1. Tibet became part of China over 1000 years ago. Now they are wanting their freedom. If New Mexico wanted freedom from the United States, would we give it to them?
2. 85% of the Chinese people are Han. They may only have 1 child per family. The other 15% are minorities. They many have more than one child per family. I f a couple is married and they are both single children, they may have two children. If one of them comes from a family of two children, then they can only have one baby.
3. In the US we call people who are not working “Unemployed”. In China they are called “off duty” because the government is the employer and if they don’t have work for their people then they just say the people are off duty.
4. The dragon is very important in China. All dragons are male….so they must mate with another animal to have children. The most famous of these children is called the “Posh shoe” (That is my way to spell it…I am sure it is not even close to being correct.) That is the cross between the dragon and the lion. It represents good fortune and lots of money.
